Mary Ann Meltzer

Mary Ann Meltzer begins her first year as the head
coach of the University of Detroit Mercy’s new women’s lacrosse team. Prior to going to UDM,
Meltzer spent the previous five years as the head coach for The University of Michigan Women’s Lacrosse Team.
In 2006, Meltzer guided the Wolverines to a 21-3 record and a runner up finish in the USL-WDIA National Championship
Tournament -- Michigan's highest finish ever. She was also honored by her peers as the 2006 USL-WDIA Coach of
the Year and again in 2007.
Meltzer's five-year record at
Michigan is a 93-22 (.809 winning percentage) and the Wolverines have advanced to the national championship tournament
each season.
Prior to coaching at UM, Meltzer oversaw the Birmingham Unified Women's Lacrosse Team from
1998 to 2002. During her tenure, she led the team to State Championships in 1998, 1999, 2001 and finish as State Runner-ups
in 2000. She was also named Midwest High School "Coach of the Year" in 1999.
Meltzer attended
the University of Maryland from 1986-1990 where she played on their varsity lacrosse team. In 1989 & 1990, Meltzer was
selected as an All-American. In 1990, Meltzer captained Maryland's varsity squad. That same year she was recognized as
the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Year. She was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Women's
Lacrosse Team in 2003 and she was inducted into the Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2002. Meltzer was a member of the USA Lacrosse
Team from 1989 to 1992.
Currently, she serves as a member of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors and is the Chairperson
of the USL's Women's Division of Intercollegiate Associates (WDIA).
